LIGHT & SHADOW
A collection of paintings
This series of portraiture was inspired by the conflicts presented through the idea of false identity, titled Mirage: An Ulterior Motive.
We all have interacted with people who are a far stretch from who they really are; some are people just striving to be something they aren’t, others are in denial of who they really are. As someone who has always had a strong sense of self, I have felt overwhelmed with the amount of dishonesty I have found in the average human character. Although we are all conscious of it, I have found its lack of acknowledgement unnerving and I want to expose the uncomfortable beauty that lies on the surface of dishonest personality. This collection was strongly influenced by the oversaturation of misleading images in popular media.
“From afar, people seem put-together, complete. However, closer you get, you begin to see how unclear, uncertain, and abstracted they really are. They are stripped; simplicity, shape, and shadow are all that remain.”
